You may notice when you land on certain pages in the site that they require a password now. This is to protect the privacy of our alumni. Right now, the only restricted areas are the forum and the email list. To obtain the site password, you can go to "Request and Submit Information" and choose "Obtain Site Password". Once we have verified that you are an alumnus, or a closely associated individual, we will email the password to the address you provided. This will grant you access to those restricted pages. In the future, we plan to create a user system, but... right now that's a bit involved. Our privacy solution for the time being is the restricted area password.
I've added a couple new things to the site. One is a forum where alumni can create topics and discuss them. We will see how it goes, and if it seems to go well, we will retain it. I've also begun the e-mail list for alumni, though, the list is sparing. Before we can post e-mails, we need permission to place them on the site. Permission can be granted by submitting your profile information and indicating it in the designated field, or by going to the alumni email list, and submitting your email through that form.

We've almost got all of the classes up, which means we can focus more on researching and getting more information on individual profiles. In 2008 we created a coffee table edition Torchbearer, for the 50 year anniversary of FGBI. For that project, we collected a lot of information from alumni and compiled our "forms" in three ring binders. For several years I have been waiting for the opportunity to put that treasure of information to use in other aspects. We will be able to use information we have on hand to fill out several profiles for those who haven't made it to the site yet. We don't have everybody, but have enough to make a significant contribution to the site.
I'm looking forward to several new features. One of which is the tributes pages. Right now, we only have a tribute to Rev. Chester Heath, but the tribute section will expand to cover several people who were highly influential to the alumni of Free Gospel Bible Institute. They are being built according to what we have on hand. We also have a page to honor all of those lives that have gone on to be with the Lord. If you know of an alumnus, or associate of FGBI that has passed away and should be listed among these, please let us know. We do not want to leave anyone out, but we don't know everyone. Also, you will see opportunities to leave comments around the site. I am excited about this, since it gives you more opportunities to interact with each other. So far these are only on the News page, and a few "memorialized" profiles (profiles of people who have passed away). They may pop up in other places, where it seems appropriate. The Alumni Dues Online Payment Option is now available. We'd like to thank those who have been faithful to submit their dues, and we hope more will follow! Profiles and classes for the three years mentioned above are up! Encourage your friends in these classes to submit their profile information.
The classes of 1987, 1988, and 1989 are up, along with their corresponding profiles. If you are from one of these classes, I encourage you to submit your profile information to be added! Also, as I'm venturing into these earlier classes, I am less and less familiar with people and faces. If you know of married names, or whether or not certain ones truly graduated, it would be most helpful if you would submit that information. Married names help us find people!
Every class from the 1990's has been put up, along with corresponding profiles. Only a few people have submitted their profile information for the 90's. If you have friends from the 90's, please encourage them to submit their information!
I've been digging through all of my old external hard drive files and finding some real treasures. I stumbled upon several videos of alumni from the past couple of years. A couple of the videos happened to be current faculty members as Seniors, talking about their vision and burden for the school. I don't think either of the two, OR the interviewer knew they would be returning to work here. I was thrilled to hear what these two men of God had to say, five years ago, as FGBI Seniors. What is even better, is that God brought some of it to pass!
One of the things mentioned by Rev. Aaron Hough was that he would like to see FGBI produce literature, and get more into publishing. This was especially exciting, because as a student, this was exactly what God had put on my heart. I felt like God had called me to the "publishing ministry." I know at the time I would have never imagined that God would call me to FGBI, and that FGBI would acquire publishing equipment, and that I would end up overseeing this portion of the school. I'm sure Brother Hough did not foresee it either, in the sense that it would be almost an immediate thing. Within 2 years of God laying that burden upon my heart, and within one year of the recording of this video, God brought this vision to pass! Another thing that was mentioned, this one by Brother James Burgess, was to see more of the building fund aspects and campus facilities grow. Since then, we have seen 55 acres of land, provided through a miracle. In only nine months, God provided the $200,000.00 needed to purchase it. Beyond that, five brand new mobile homes have been acquired and installed for faculty and upgraded student housing. These living quarters are beautiful and spacious, and have made comfortable homes for several faculty, and students. I am reminded of God's promise in Habakkuk, 2:3 "For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry." How true God's Word is! To view the video click here. To learn more about our publishing department, click here. To read about our building project, click here and read about it in the newsletter. Or, view pictures of it in our photo gallery. Added Kelly (Bragg) Jenkins profile, and also, built the 1999 Class page and corresponding profiles. Also added some news that has been submitted. You can find that on the "What's Going On?" tab.
I added Shauna (Meadow) Millikin and Liz Whitacre's profiles.
I've added profiles for: Sarah Buhrow, Shane Whitacre, Ashley Berry, Julie Freeman, Jennifer Williams, Rebecca Coffey and Netta Gaines. I haven't been able to do much more the past couple of days. Been bogged down with priorities here at school!
The 2000's decade is officially set up. Class of 2004, 2003, 2002, 2001, and 2000 were added today along with profile skeletons for each person. For individuals, I added Catherine (Cole) LePelley, Seth Hoover, Lynn Harman, Hannah Randall, Kristen Herrera and Jennifer (Dissmore) Brooks. All members of that decade. Once again, if you submitted info, and I haven't put your profile up yet, it's because I'm working my way to your year. Some of you are a long way off! Lol! I have enjoyed putting this together. It has given me a glimpse FGBI through the eyes of each "group" of students that have come through, and how things change with time. One thing that has blessed me though, is to see that God STILL moves and works mightily in lives and hearts, and FGBI is STILL, through God's power, producing men and women of God, full of passion and zeal for His work! Praise be to God!
