Rev. Chester Heath - Over 50 Years of Service to FGBI and Counting
c
Browsing through old yearbooks, no one can deny the mark that Rev. Chester Heath has left upon this school. He was present from its very conception, and has nurtured it from it’s birth. He joined the faculty and became an active part shortly after. If you’re just looking at the pictures, you see a man that has labored in every area of this school, been there in strategic times of development, and taught many, many classes of young people preparing for the ministry. When you know Rev. Chester Heath though... when you know the man in those pictures... you know that it goes so much deeper than willing hands and heart. Where some have joined our school for “the experience” or might have stuck around to support ones present in their time, Rev. Chester Heath is a man that has proven through unfailing devotion and commitment that he is in it out of a pure love for our Lord and His Kingdom. There have doubtless been opportunities for greater, and more glamorous avenues of ministry, but this is a man that has devoted his entire life to a work of God, and never accepted payment for his labors, intelligence, time and service. He’s never sought attention or recognition for his actions, and he’s weathered the storms that have come to this school without complaint, believing the God that erected this school, for miracles in desperate times. We look back over the history of our school and see miracles, and we rejoice that God performed them, and many times take them for granted. Rev. Chester Heath looks back and remembers the dire situations before the miracles... what it felt like to know God was the only hope... the only resource... He didn’t have a “bank of miracles” to draw money, or water from.... He had a struggling school, a desperate situation, and hours on his knees and a mustard seed of faith. Miracles came at a price, and he experienced it. Today, we reap the benefits of his sacrifice, but he still marvels at God’s divine intervention and grace. It would be so easy to ride the coattails of such a man of God... to find a man like this and stick by him and see God move for decades and decades.
