Carrie (Kewer) Vanzant -Passed Away April 2009
_Obituary - Carrie Ann Kewer Vanzant was a picture of life, a beautiful rare jewel
plucked from our lives to adorn the portals of heaven with her charm.
Carrie, age 23 was the life of every party or gathering. Church, youth
camp and camp meetings ( anything to do with church was her life).
She had loads of friends, no-one was a stranger. She was humble yet
bubbly and confident. She would never commit to a boy, just called them
her friends. She wanted to save her first romantic date and kiss for the
man she loved. Every guy from cute to ugly loved her and she showed
them no respecter of persons, she was friends with them all, the same
with girls.
She was one of three girls, Jessica and Amber, her sisters whom were her
best friends. She loved being an auntie to Ambe'rs 4. ( Amber's husband
was killed in a car accident 5 months before Carries death leaving wife
and 4 kids, youngest 2 weeks old).
She chose to go to Bible college for 3 years and there she met the man
of her dreams, match made in heaven. They both were chosen out of a large
school to go to India for missions. She was asked to sign documents
that if she dared to preach the Gospel of Jesus she could be put in
jail. Carrie signed it with a smile unafraid.
In August 2009 Carrie and Don were united in marriage, gorgeous wedding
with much joy and happiness.
Don and Carrie became the teacher and principal at a Christian school in
Joplin, MO. They were also children's workers in the church, spending
hours weekly preparing for it.
The impact they made on their community was astounding and anointed by
God. The children absolutely loved them, they made school an exciting
atmosphere.
Don is a minister and Carrie loved being a ministers wife, going
different places, meeting new people.
In April 2009, eight month to the day after they wed Don and Carrie were
on their way to preach a youth rally in Blair, OK with 2 young ladies
Bethany and Callie Crafton ( who were going to sing in the service).
They made a usual stop to Wal-Mart, not too far from their destination.
They thought the way was clear pulling out, but a fast moving truck must
have changed lanes and crashed into them, Carrie was driving. Carrie
was killed instantly. Don sustained non-critical injuries and the two
girls were in critical condition.
Thousands of people were impacted by this tragedy, if anyone left a
lasting impression she forevermore did.
Her mother in her grief had to admit that 6 days before she died she had
a dream that she needed to look down at something and when she finally
did she saw her daughter in a casket. The day she died she felt she
needed to get down and pray for sustenance for something she was to
face. Her wonderful parents had an amazing grace through this trial as
well as her precious husband though it hurt so very bad. Momma said, " I
believe it was her time."
There was around 1,300 people at her funeral, massive amounts of flowers
and so many memories.
Carrie's motto she had on her bebo page was " Never say harsh words they
might be your last!" also " Humility is like underware, you should wear
it, but it should not be seen. "
One of the things she hated the most was "GOSSIP", she always saw the
best in everyone.
Carrie, my dear cousin we will miss you!
