Kelly & Timothy Jenkins (2011)
Wow...where do I start! I have so many memories I could never pick one favorite.....but one does stick out in my mind more than any of them. Our Freshemn year first semester. We had church instead of class all the time! One day in October we had a 3 hour church service. Bro Peretic came in and wrote, We Will not accept defeat on the board and our whol class signed it. That was the start for me...I won so much victory that day. That is when the Lord really began changing me and I really began to open up and let him. Another one would be our Sr year in Bro James calss we had a move of God (acts class i believe). There was a message and interpretation and that day the Lord really gave me the greater burden to teach at my church to come up higher to recieve a greater annointing. As far as influential people....they all were. Bro James and Sis. Sarah Burgess had a great impact on me. Every sermon I recieved a greater touch. Freshmen year, Bro James preached on, A Pathway to his Presence. I cleaned out some things in my heart that day and the Lord blessed me so greatly. I can look back now and say wow...where would I be if I had not surrendered that to the Lord that Day and made a pathway for his presence to come in and fill my life like he wanted to. Bro and Sis Peretic influenced me so much as well. Their faith, their relationship with the Lord, how they prayed and how they pushed us to pray and to be sure taht we were getting the truth and how they sacrifice their time to take time for us and be sure that we are getting from God all that he desires. Nobody really like cleaning and getting up early but...a schedule and daily duties forced all the laziness out of me. The one that helped me the most was breakfast duty. I had to be down there every morning at 6:15 to help Sis MeGechie set out food and thigns for the whole school. At first, getting up earlier than everybody else, killed me! I did not want to! But I began to see it as an oppurtunity to discipline myself. I had the feeling that the Lord had a reason for me to be up early, he was getting the Laziness otu of me! Little did I know, a yr and half from then I would be married and had to be up every moring to take care of my hisband to see him off and then take care of the house and go to my little job. Had I not had that responsibility, I would not be where I am. I know it seems strange but God works in mysterious ways. I also gleened alot from Sis McGechie every morning, how she would walk aroung humming and singing early in the morning she always had a praise in her heart and a smile on her face. There are so many memories, serious, spiritual and funny ones. I could never be able to tell them all or express how FGBI changed my life! It was such an experience and the Lord worked in so many ways! I am so thankful for every trial, every teacher and every experience.
